(Of, pertaining to, or designating) a drug-like substance produced by the organs of internal secretion.
1914E. A. S. Schäfer in Internat. Congr. Med. 1913 ii. ii. 21 A convenient Greek derivative to denote this quality is ‘acoid’..and to further denote that these principles are formed within and by the body, i.e. are natural, we may employ the prefix ‘aut-’.
