AN UNFORGETTABLE DAY
Yesterday was my 20th birthday, but I forgot it completely. As usual, I went to the library shortly after supper. I opened the book and was soon carried away by a difficult but challenging problem. Absorbed in my operations, I began wandering in a familiarly strange world. Familiar, because I often ran into such a case; strange, because the problem was quite different from what I had done. Having got the solution, I put back the chair and left with satisfaction.
When I returned to my bedroom, all the classmates waiting there stood up giving birthday greetings to me. I was a little at loss at first, but soon I realized that they came to celebrate my 20th birthday. I cut the birthday cake they had prepared for me. We sang songs and talked about our friendship and school life until late into the night.
With songs and talks ringing in my ears, I almost had a sleepless night that night. I was so excited and grateful that I thought a great deal. I will never forget that surprising day.
Though the fortnight passed away at lightening speed, the memory of it will last forever.
