A Letter
假设你是李明,请你就本校食堂的状况给校长写一封信,内容应涉及食堂的饭菜质量、价格、环境、服务等,可以是表扬,可以是批评建议,也可以兼而有之。
Dear Mr President,
Perhaps you'll be interested in my letter about the canteen, since you've always been concerned with students' health and studies. And, if some of my suggestions are given some consideration, I'd feel very happy.
Everybody admits that our canteen has excellent surroundings: a three story building with spacious dining-rooms fixed with transparent glass windows. The out-walls are beautiihlly painted and the inner decorations are attractive but not extravagant. Everything is kept clean and tidy. This has left a good impression on all of us, even on our friends from other schools and universities. To tell you the truth, the canteen has added much to my pride as a student of this university.
The food supplies are adequate in quantity, good in taste, diverse in variety and relatively low in prices. We have a dozen choices for dishes at dinner, most of which are to my taste. Rice and steamed bread are, of course, tasty and well made. But somehow, I wonder, whether it is convenient to prepare noodles or jiaozi for a change? Am I expecting too much? Or perhaps, should we just visit a restaurant for that change? The services are good, too. The cooks and other working staff members are always ready to help and with a smiling face, too! We certainly are satisfied with them. However,we are young students. It seems that we not only have a good appetite but also have a quick digestion! Whenever we stay up late for an assignment the professors have given us, we feel so hungry that we can't go on. Nor can we go to sleep. Cold, dry cakes do us little good. We long to have another hot meah Can the canteen offer service after, say,ten o'clock p. m.? Again, am I expecting too much?
I'm on pins and needles for an answer. But, I do hope I'm not giving you too much trouble.
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming
