1952J. N. Porter et al. in Antibiotics & Chemotherapy II. 409 A new species of actinomycete, Streptomyces albo-niger, was obtained which was capable of producing a hitherto undescribed antibiotic, possessing..activity against certain bacteria..Trypanosoma as well. Because the antibiotic is devoid of pigment in the crystalline state, it has been given the name Achromycin.
